IMPRINT

Contemporary Explorations in Printmaking

Shenandoah Valley Arts Center | Waynesboro, Virginia

Exhibition Dates: September 5 – October 31
Artwork Drop-Off: August 31 & September 1

The Shenandoah Valley Arts Center (SVAC) invites submissions for IMPRINT: Contemporary Explorations in Printmaking, a juried exhibition celebrating innovation, experimentation, and excellence in contemporary printmaking.

This exhibition seeks work from artists who are expanding the possibilities of printmaking through inventive approaches to materials, techniques, and process. We are interested in work that demonstrates a deep engagement with the medium while challenging conventional expectations of what a print can be.

IMPRINT is designed to showcase the remarkable breadth of contemporary printmaking—from traditional methods reimagined through new approaches to boundary-pushing explorations of process and material. Through this exhibition, SVAC aims to highlight the diversity of techniques, methodologies, and creative practices that continue to shape the field today.

Located in downtown Waynesboro, Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley Arts Center is regionally recognized for its vibrant printmaking program. The center's print studio is home to two intaglio presses, a letterpress, and a variety of additional printmaking equipment. SVAC hosts a monthly Print Club and offers ongoing demonstrations, workshops, and classes that support and strengthen the regional printmaking community.

Eligibility

This call is open to contemporary printmakers nationwide. While we especially encourage submissions from artists throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States—including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.—artists from all regions are welcome to apply.

Artists are encouraged to submit recent work that demonstrates experimentation, innovation, and technical exploration within the medium of printmaking.

Jurors

Submissions will be reviewed by the IMPRINT Exhibition Standards Committee, chaired by Lana Lambert (Corcoran School of the Arts & Design; California Institute of the Arts). The committee is composed of experienced printmakers and arts professionals dedicated to recognizing excellence and innovation in contemporary printmaking.

Delivery Information

Artists are responsible for delivering accepted work to the Shenandoah Valley Arts Center.

Work may be hand-delivered during the designated drop-off dates or shipped to the venue. Artists choosing to ship artwork must include a prepaid return shipping label within the package. SVAC will use this label to return artwork following the close of the exhibition.

About IMPRINT

While SVAC has a longstanding history of exhibiting printmaking and supporting printmakers through its studio programs, IMPRINT marks the center's first juried exhibition dedicated specifically to exploring the evolving landscape of contemporary printmaking through the lens of innovation in process and material.

By bringing together artists working across a wide spectrum of print-based practices, IMPRINT seeks to foster dialogue, encourage experimentation, and celebrate the enduring relevance and creative potential of the printed mark.

We look forward to seeing your work.
